MINIMALISM AND ME – Beginning and 5 years later.

Leto 2015.

Ko sem po rojstvu drugega sina razmišljala o svojih dnevih in o tem kako jih preživljam, je bilo vse kar sem videla kupi umazane posode, kupi umazanega perila in igrače na tleh in plenice in..

2015. While thinking about my days after my second son was born and how I spent them, all I saw was piles of dirty dishes, piles of dirty laundry and toys on the floor and diapers..

In fact, sleep at that time was disastrous, and of course, did not help.

I was in a period of my life when certain things had to be “leased because life with young children looks like this.

A sama sem verjela, da nekaj lahko spremenim in poenostavim. Želela sem si preprostejši dom in življenje.
But I believed I could change something and simplify it. I wanted a simpler home and life.

V tistem času sem prebrala nekaj knjig in blogov na temo minimalizma in preprostejšega življenja.
At that time, I read some books and blogs on the theme of minimalism and simpler life.

Bolj kot sem raziskovala, bolj sem kimala vsemu kar sem prebrala.
The more I researched, the more I nodded to everything I read.

Navdihnile so me zgodbe ljudi, ki so dramatično zmanjšali svoje stvari in vse prednosti za katere so trdili, da jih takšno življenje prinaša.
I was inspired by the stories of people who dramatically reduced their belongings and by all the benefits that they claimed such a life brings.

I started thinking about how this could change my family and my living, and started “evaluating” everything that filled our home and life.

Getting rid of the unneeded things in life is a big part of minimalism.

I felt more light-hearted, too, while making space in closets, drawers and shelves.

But the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that physical things are actually just one piece (of the puzzle).

Minimalizem presega vprašanje KAKO se znebiti navlake.
Minimalism goes beyond the question of how to get rid of clutter.

The more important question I had to ask was WHY and what areas of life can I apply it to?

Zakaj dajem toliko pomena stvarem?
Why do I give so much meaning to things?

Zakaj in kaj želim pustiti za seboj?
Why and what do I want to leave behind?

Kaj je resnično pomembno v življenju?
What really matters in life?

Kakšna oseba želim biti/postati?
What kind of person do I want to be/become?

Kako bom definirala svoj uspeh?
How am I going to define my success?

Ladder, coin, mirror, shadow

DANES.

Today. I soon realized that not every vision of minimalism is the same.

That it’s not so important what you have, but why you have it.

Minimalizem in preprostejše življenje sta ena od tistih konceptov, ki pomenita različne stvari različnim ljudem.
Minimalism and simpler life are one of those concepts that mean different things to different people.

In tako je tudi prav.
And that’s right too.

Both are something that is personal and therefore also unique to the individual or family who chooses to live like this.

Potrebuješ le jasno sliko kaj preprostejše življenje pomeni tebi in ga na podlagi tega “gradiš”.
All you need is a clear picture of what a simpler life means to you and “build” based on it.

Ne primerjaj se z drugimi!
Don’t compare yourself to the others!

In kako minimalizem izgleda zame danes?
And what does minimalism look like for me today?

I’m telling you, it doesn’t involve giving up all our stuff and moving to a small home in the middle of the woods.

I know this works for some families – and that’s amazing.

In fascinantno.
And fascinating.

And part of me even thinks that such a life might be fun for a while, but I also know that it wouldn’t work for our family right now.

Tako delamo malo vsega, ampak nič preveč ekstremnega.
So we do a little bit of everything, but nothing too extreme.

Poenostavitev.

Simplification. My approach to minimalism has been focused from the beginning on simplification – not only our home, but also relationships, routines, obligations..

I’m trying to simplify parts of our lives that get complicated and create stress.

Mi to vedno uspe? Seveda ne.
Do I always succeed? Of course, not.

Simplification doesn’t work wonders, but it’s a good start.

Praktičnost in prilagodljivost.
Practicality and flexibility.

Kot sem že omenila ni “pravega” ali “napačnega” načina kako živeti bolj preprosto, minimalistično življenje.
As I mentioned before, there is no “right” or “wrong” way to live a simpler, minimalist life.

I don’t follow any rules, and I don’t count how many toys, clothes, shoes, books, plates and spoons we have.

I pay attention to things that bring value and joy to our lives and what does not.

Nakupujem z namenom.
Shopping with purpose.

Zame minimalizem pomeni upiranje začaranemu krogu potrošništva in namesto impulzivnega nakupovanja izbiram kakovost nad količino.
For me, minimalism means resisting the vicious circle of consumerism and choosing quality over quantity instead of impulsive shopping.

Menim, da je manj bolje.
I think it’s a bit better.

Na minimalizem gledam kot na potovanje.
I see minimalism as a journey.

Preprostejše življenje in minimalizem nista končna destinacija.
Simpler life and minimalism are not the final destination.

There is no ultimate goal I want to achieve, but it is part of my daily personal growth.

I’m looking forward to you being here with me, too.

Zakaj dajem toliko pomena stvarem?

Zakaj in kaj želim pustiti za seboj?

Kaj je resnično pomembno v življenju?

Kakšna oseba želim biti/postati?

Kako bom definirala svoj uspeh?
